AGM Report 2006
The 2006 AGM
President Ian Moss welcomed everyone and asked if the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting could be approved. These were unanimously accepted as a true record.
As there were no matters arising from the minutes Ian gave his Presidents review of the year
He said he had enjoyed his year in office, but apologised for not being able to attend every meeting due to pressure of work.
Ian then had the pleasure of installing John West as the President for the forthcoming year and handing over the chain of office.
John said it was his pleasure to propose that Roy Featherstone be the President Elect. Roy had been a very valuable member of the club, helping by providing studio lights, reflectors, backgrounds and expert technical advice on practical portrait evenings. He also did a lot of work ‘behind the scenes’ to support club activities.
Roy indicated he was pleased to accept this office.
Pam McIntosh then gave the Treasurer’s report saying the club was in a reasonable financial position and she proposed that subscriptions remain at £40.00 for the forthcoming year. These could be paid in quarterly instalments of £10.00. Children up to age twelve could now come free with a parent who was a full member, and then pay half price up to age sixteen. This was accepted unanimously
Pam also proposed that visitor’s fees were increased to £1.50 per session, which is less than the cost of a pint of beer or glass of wine for a good evenings entertainment. This was accepted unanimously.
Mick Ward said he would be pleased to act as Auditor for another year.
John then went through the list of committee members, who all said they would like to remain on the committee for another year. As there were no other members standing for election he proposed that all the incumbent members be re-elected. This was accepted unanimously.
John announced that the committee would be: - President John West, Past President Ian Moss, President Elect Roy Featherstone, Secretary Vic Llewellyn, Treasurer Pam McIntosh, Programme Secretary Janet Tierney, Competition Secretary Duncan Hill, Publicity Secretary Kathleen Cooke. LPA and NEMPF delegate Arthur Arrand,
Project Co-ordinator George Lord.
After the election of officers, John then proposed that Reg Cooke should be offered a position as Vice President of the club in perpetuity. This honour was reserved for members of long standing who had been deeply involved in the development of the club and demonstrated real commitment. John said that Reg had been a member of the club for over fifty years he had been Programme Secretary three times, President three times and was always willing to lend a hand or step “into the breach” on occasions when a speaker was not able to come to the club. Over the years the club as a whole and many individual members had benefited from his sage advice.
Reg said he was honoured and delighted to accept the office. He was proud to be a Vice President of a club that had been such an important part of his life.
There being no further business John closed the meeting and thanked everyone for turning out and braving the torrential rain to attend.
