An Evening at Waters Edge
An al-fresco evening
Camera Club members enjoyed the first, [almost] rain-free evening for several days when they journeyed to Barton to the new visitor centre at Watersedge.
A five-minute shower followed a wonderful rainbow display, but it did not deter a few people going to the edge of the water to photograph the swans that came to see if there was any food on offer.
During the first part of the walk, around the lakes, two families of geese kept the cameras busy for a time but it was the wonderful shades of grey and the early evening light on the clouds in the distance, beyond Hull, that attracted many members and kept the shutters clicking.
Sitting by the river, on a low wall, enjoying the scenery, the warmth of the sun and the light on the bridge; listening to the beautiful song of a Reed Bunting singing away on a nearby tree made the evening a wonderful experience.
The tide was coming in to the small river at Barton and some old boats tied up, gave even more subjects to photograph.
As the light faded a few members stopped off at a local hostelry for welcome refreshments. But photo opportunities still remained and members captured images of the wonderful reds and oranges of the dramatic sunset.
The party agreed it had been a very pleasant outing – except perhaps the new member, looking for Waters Edge, who accidentally crossed the Humber Bridge and added a double bridge-toll to the cost of his evening!
