CAMERA CLUB MEETINGS IN AUGUST 2007

AUGUST 1st.

Tonight the club members will assemble on the car-park, Normanby Hall Park, at 7-00pm.There they will meet members of the Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club who will bring costumes designed for their upcoming productions at the Plowright Theatre.

The Theatre Club members will act as models for the photographers. A similar event last summer proved to be a resounding success; the stage experience of the Theatre Club members gave them the poise and vivacity to make excellent photographic models.

AUGUST 8th.

Natasha Estrada will be the visiting speaker at the Camera Club meeting tonight. This is Natasha’s first visit to the club; she will give a presentation on the natural delights of the Far Ings Nature Reserve at Barton-on-Humber. No doubt Natasha will inspire club members to photograph some of the exciting wildlife and ecology of this remarkable reserve. Note that this meeting will be held in the usual room at the Scunthorpe Central Community Centre.

AUGUST 15th

Tonight Camera Club members will see the judging of entries a new type of competition. None of the entries will be in the traditional form of paper prints or slides; all entries will be in the form of digital files. This is only the second time that the club has mounted a digital-image-only competition but the experience will allow the club to be prepared for the time when all competitions are of this kind.

AUGUST 22nd.

A new speaker will visit the Scunthorpe Camera Club this evening when Alan Robson [FRPS] of Selby will present ‘An Evening of Prints’. The title of Alan’s presentation doesn’t give any strong clues as to what members may expect – but his FRPS does. Those awards don’t come up with the cornflakes!

AUGUST 29th.

Tonight our Competition Secretary,Duncan Hill, will select a programme of images from several portfolios to which the club has access. The resulting show will consist of the creme-de-la-creme of current portfolios and should stimulate lots of discussion.
