2007 AGM
THE 2007 AGM.
The Scunthorpe Camera Club was inaugurated 6th December 1937 and the President for its 70th year will be local professional photographer Roy Featherstone. Roy was installed by retiring President John West. In his retiring speech, John thanked all the committee for supporting him in his year of office and also for doing their respective committee jobs extremely well.
John also said it was good to see the club membership had increased again over the past year, probably due in part to the number of people acquiring digital cameras and wanting to learn how to use them. It was up to experienced members to meet these needs.
Roy took the chair and said it was an honour to be elected and he was sure he would be able to cope with the task if he got the sort of support that John had enjoyed. He said his first task was to invite all the existing members of the committee to stand for re-election and to hold the same offices.
As no one dissented, the committee was re-elected en-block, with John West appointed Past President, Treasurer Pam McKintosh, Secretary Vic Llewellyn, Project Coordinator George Lord, Programme Secretary Janet Tierney, Competition Secretary Duncan Hill, Publicity Secretary Kathleen Cooke and Arthur Arrand, Ian Moss. Mick Ward indicated he is willing to continue as Auditor of accounts. Ted Dowse was proposed as President-Elect, and accepted on a unanimous vote, with an automatic place on the Committee.
Honorary Vice Presidents Reg Henry ARPS and Reg Cooke were also re-elected; both indicated that they would continue to donate their subscriptions to the club funds. Pam McIntosh, Treasurer, issued spreadsheets showing income and expenditure over the year plus a summary-sheet. Pam talked the members through the accounts and answered several questions. She proposed that subscriptions remain at £40 per annum, payable at £10 per quarter, with visitors, paying £1.50 per visit. This was accepted unanimously. Duncan Hill, Competition Secretary, reported that the finals of the Lincolnshire Photographic Association inter-club battles took place at Nettleham Village Hall on Sunday 21st October 2007 with Scunthorpe Camera Club winning the slides section with 150 marks. Second place went to Deepings Camera Club with 142. Horncastle got 137 points, Grimsby Photographic Club 135, Lincoln 132 and Spalding 124. Duncan was very pleased to show the silver cup Slide Trophy to club members. Winning the Slide Trophy was an extremely good start to the Camera Club’s 70th year and it is hoped a good number of members and their families will enjoy a celebratory meal early in December.
George Lord announced that Wendy Thomas, the Warden of the Community Centre, will retire next month after thirty two years in post. George indicated that Wendy had been a great friend to the club and proposed that we consider some form of presentation to Wendy to show our appreciation. It was agreed that Roy Featherstone will take a formal portrait of Wendy and her husband in his studio.
There being no further business the President closed the meeting at 8-40pm.
